Helena González is a Barcelona-born cinematographer and now based in London with a passion for storytelling, art, and photography. Growing up with painter parents, she developed her creative vision early, traveling across Europe with a video camera always in hand. By fifteen, Helena had found her calling behind the camera and pursued her passion by studying Audiovisual Media at UPC and completing a postgraduate degree in Cinematography at ECIB. Her short film Lacrimosa was selected by the AEC to represent Spain at the IMAGO 2019 awards.

In 2020, Helena joined the prestigious MA Cinematography program at the NFTS, further honing her craft. Since graduating in 2023, she has established herself in London, focusing on short films (both fiction and documentaries) and commercials. Known for building strong creative partnerships, Helena continues to work with directors who keep returning to collaborate on new projects. She has collaborated with talented directors such as Hannah Beach (for Slick Films), Georgie Henley, Simon London, Guy Trevellyan, Molly Lipson, and Vanessa Rose. Her work has been showcased at festivals including Camerimage, Hollyshorts, the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Aesthetica in York, POFF Shorts, British Shorts in Berlin, the Tallgrass Film Festival, and the Reykjavik International Film Festival, among others. Most recently, Helena worked as the cinematographer for a mini-series produced by Vertigo Films for 3Cat (Catalan National TV), directed by Sandra Reina, director of El Bus (Gaudí Award winner for Best Short Film in 2024).

Helena loves collaborating closely with directors, dedicating herself to in-depth preproduction and working on emotion-driven stories that blend genres or explore atmospheric environments. She’s particularly interested in visually conveying perspective through poetic imagery, portraying complex conflicts and characters. Helena aims for a minimalist visual style that gives actors space while maintaining a subtle, stylistic approach. Her work focuses on nuance and emotion, and her love for contrast and texture is reflected in the way she lights and frames scenes, influenced by her background in painting.
